I remember, sometime around the age of 10 or so, picking up a Time-Life Photography Series Book and I remember the powerful impact those photos had on me. From Joe Rosenthal’s photo at Iwo Jima to Eddie Adams’ Pulitzer Prize winning photograph of the execution of a Viet Cong prisoner in the middle of the street in Saigon, I was both horrified and mesmerized by the photos. I read the stories behind each photo and imagined myself behind the camera of those great photographs and in my young mind, tried to imagine what it would be like to affect someone like that with just a single photo. I've owned a camera since the age of 10. From my first Kodak Brownie to my latest Nikon Digital SLR, I’ve owned dozens of cameras and taken thousands of images. Still, 40 years later, I’m still searching for that one mesmerizing photo…
